Adjustable or retractable pergola louvres?
Compare Moraira, Altea and Denia: louvre tilt, roof opening and zone control. Choose a pergola roof around how you use your space.

Quick answer
In an adjustable-louvre pergola, the louvres rotate to regulate light and ventilation while remaining spread across the roof. Denia also retracts its louvres, uncovering between 65% and 67% of the roof. Moraira and Altea adjust the louvre angle; Altea also allows control by zone.
| Consideration | Moraira | Altea | Denia |
|---|---|---|---|
| Movement | Rotation | Rotation with zone control | Rotation and retraction |
| Louvre tilt | 0° to 135° | 0° to 145° | 0° to 135° |
| Retraction to uncover the roof | No | No | 65% to 67% of the roof uncovered |
| Use to consider | Small and medium spaces | Large spans and separate zones | Uncovering more of the roof on sunny days |
Is tilting the louvres the same as uncovering the roof?
No. Rotation creates gaps for light and air, but the louvres remain overhead. Retraction groups them into part of the structure, uncovering a larger area. Choose according to the experience you want: adjusting shade throughout the day or being able to remove part of the covering from view.
When should you choose Moraira or Altea?
If your main aim is to adjust shade and ventilation, an adjustable-louvre roof may meet your needs. Moraira suits small and medium spaces. Altea allows larger spans and control by zone, useful when different parts of the space need different settings. Final selection depends on dimensions, supports and site exposure.
When does Denia make sense?
When you want to uncover a larger part of the roof as well as adjust the angle of the louvres. Denia’s retraction uncovers between 65% and 67% of the roof; it does not remove the entire covering. Ask to see where the retracted louvres sit and confirm the structure’s orientation before deciding, especially beside windows or doors.
What happens when it starts raining?
Moraira, Altea and Denia include a rain sensor and remote control. The sensor triggers the louvres to close when it detects rain. Water is routed through the structure’s drainage system. A roof does not enclose the sides of the pergola: wind-driven rain and wind need their own assessment, as do the operating conditions for the equipment.
Which equipment should you compare?
Distinguish the included remote control and rain sensor from additional options. Lighting, heating, app control, a wind sensor, screens and glass should be specified in the proposal with compatibility confirmed. Do not assume that a feature advertised for a model is included in every configuration.
How do you choose beyond the model name?
Send photographs, approximate measurements and a description of how you intend to use the space: dining, relaxing, circulation or restaurant seating. Explain whether you prefer adjustable shade, zone control or roof retraction. The Oazis team helps compare configurations and prepares an installation quote without publishing universal model prices.
